San Diego Asian Film Festival: This annual film festival is touted as “the largest showcase of Asian and Asian American cinema in North America.” Twenty-three films will premiere throughout the festival, including five world premieres, with more than 160 films being shown in total. Opening night will feature a special showing of “Quiz Lady,” starring Awkwafina and Sandra Oh, and an appearance by director Jessica Yu, followed by a Q&A, reception and after party. Nov. 2-11. Fleet Week: Fleet Week is a chance for locals to engage with military personnel and entities that they see from afar throughout San Diego County. It comprises many events and activities, including a military band concert at the Spreckels Organ Pavilion on Nov. 3, an active duty military and veterans art exhibit at the Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego from Nov. 8-12 and the Fleet Week SDSU Football Classic game at Snapdragon Stadium on Nov. 4. At Broadway Pier, families and individuals can visit an Innovation Zone on Nov. 10 and tour U.S. Navy and U.S. Coast Guard ships from Nov. 10-12. One Book, One San Diego Kids Author Event: One Book, One San Diego is a partnership among more than 30 organizations to bring the community together through reading.
